Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education has taken a significant step to promote inclusivity by announcing that sign language will be taught in all schools across the country. The ministry has created a leaflet containing the most commonly used signs in sign language to be used in classrooms. Teachers specialising in sign language are also being trained to ensure effective teaching. This move is aimed at raising awareness of sign language as a means of understanding the deaf communities in the country.
During a meeting with Abdel-Rahman Omar and Ahmed Fathi Suleiman, Reda Hegazy, Egypt’s Minister of Education and Technical Education, discussed means of cooperation in developing digital curricula for deaf students to provide them with necessary academic and labor market skills. The ministry prioritises measures to educate and integrate people with disabilities in society, and is working to develop academic content for deaf students, enabling them to practice learning smoothly and easily.
The “Kalmny Ishara” platform and company aims to provide educational and training services in various fields for the deaf, and those with multiple disabilities. With the growing focus on inclusivity, learning sign language has become essential.
