Unlike spoken languages, the basics of sign language can be picked up surprisingly quickly. Even after a few hours you will be able to interact more confidently with a deaf person and hold simple conversations.

- Complete beginners, who have had little or no experience of sign language or deafness.
- People who work with the public, and want to ensure that they provide the best possible service and access to those with different communication needs.
- People who have a deaf person in the family, or who know a sign language user.
